Ashley did pretty good on her first flight. She was happy and ran around in the terminal to get her energy out. Once on the plane, she sat in her seat and was pretty relaxed. We kept her entertained with her favorite youtube videos and new toys. The flight was fast and arrived early. Unfortunately, Ashley wouldn't take a drink on the descent, so she started screaming. At least that was only the last 5 minutes or so of the flight.
All in All, not too bad.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Ashley and I made valentines this year...but then later we were at Target and she yelled "Olivia" and started freaking out. I turned to see what she was yelling about and there were shelves of valentines and she saw the box with Olivia the pig on them (one of her favorite shows). So, we had to get them - and what do you do with 24 valentines? Mail them to family and her few friends :)
Happy Valentine's Day!!

More Teeth!
As Ashley had her moth open today, I noticed that her 1st set of molars are in! She's had 8 teeth come through in the last 4-6 weeks. And those molars were barely poking through the other day. Her cuspids are barely showing yet - so it looks like she's missing teeth :) No wonder she was having problems sleeping!

18 Month Check Up
Ashley had her 18 month check up today and got a clean bill of health. She weighed roughly 23 pounds (however, her diaper was on and very wet as well as all her clothes and shoes), 31.5 inches, and her head is 19 inches. I'll probably weigh her later to see how much she really weighs.
Dr. Kalenowski said that she had a big jump in height and weight which I've realized that she recently outgrew most of her pants since she's getting so tall and she does seem much heavier or maybe it's just because I'm holding her for long periods to get her to sleep these days.
Ashley has been fighting sleep since Jan 15th (yes, I know the exact date). I've talked to a lot of people that say this is very common at this age since they are processing so much that it's hard to "shut down" and go to sleep. Most of the time it's just been a longer bedtime process (rocking to sleep since the crying out process leads to vomiting) but some nights she's been up several times during the night and a couple unfortunate nights where she's been up from midnight-5/6am. This phase makes me very happy that I don't work! Dr. Kalenowski said it's common and two of his three kids went through it and then suddenly they just start sleeping again. I hope it's sooner than later that she kicks this bad habit!
Next week we will be taking our first flight with Ashley. I have a lot of new toys to keep her occupied on the plane. At least it's a short flight to Maryland!

Tot Rock
Every Thursday morning Ashley and I go to the park district for tot rock class. Class is at 9:15, so she's usually a little out of it when we get there. We've had two classes so far.
Both times she has taken about 5-10 minutes of being shy and stuck to my side. Parents are involved, so it's not a huge deal. The first class, everyone was sitting in a large circle and Ashley got up and sat in the middle of the circle! She was very lucky since they were setting up instruments in the middle so was the first one to play on the piano. After class was over she got a stamp on each hand, which she was quite curious about.
After Ashley was comfortable and awake at the second class she was know for cleaning up. A few of the songs/games involved picking up paper bananas off the ground over and over, so she was good at that and she quickly learned to give them to the instructor and not me. During station play, she didn't play with the items, instead, she picked up all the items and put them in the storage containers. It's quite funny to see her in group situations and how she acts compared to the others in the class (which age from walkers to 24 months, and most are probably 15-18 months).
We have 3 more classes of Tot Rock and then our first plane ride with Ashley to Maryland and then she starts Tumble Tots!

Ashley's Christmas Toys
I finally gave in and got the rest of Ashley's Christmas presents out of the boxes. Now she has a baby that she plays with upstairs and one she plays with downstairs. She could push her stroller around all day long! And of course, she's going to be a great piano player or DJ when she's older :)
