First Jeep Ride!

With the weather in the 60-70s all week, Pete took off his hard top and Ashley got to go on her first Jeep ride!  Just went around the neighborhood and then to the park :)

Big Girl Bed!

I've been lacking at updating this site (so be ready for lots of updates from the last few months!)  but wanted to share that....

Ashley is currently napping in her big girl bed!!!  I'm spying on her now with the video monitor!

Pete put some new ladybug lights above her bed yesterday and she's been super excited about it and today she told me she wanted to nap in her big girl bed.  I didn't think she'd actually fall asleep!  Now I just hope the bed bumpers work and she doesn't fall out!

Sorry for the lighting, she had on a green light and I wasn't going to chance turning it off!

UPDATE: Ashley napped for almost 3 hours!  Then she woke up and I was curious to see how she'd react.  She actually just looked through a book, sang some songs and crawled around under the covers.  After close to 30 minutes, she still didn't get out of bed or call for us, so Pete and I went to her room.  She was so excited that she slept in there!

Unfortunately, she was too scared to sleep in her new room that night, but she said she wanted to nap in her big girl bed tomorrow.  Baby steps!

UPDATE: Ashley slept in her big girl bed Saturday, March 10th!  Didn't get up once and didn't even get out of bed when she woke up!!

Going on a leaf hunt!

I organized a playdate to go look for different colored leaves at the forest preserve.  The downfall, there was water!  The toddlers were quite interested in getting too close for comfort!  Wouldn't you know they had the most fun running around and playing with the trees!

A Girly Girl

I bought a bunch of photography "props" which Ashley immediately had to try on!  She loves to dress up and put on her pearls!  They are now dress up clothes!

Happy Halloween!

Ashley wasn't too sure about the scary trick or treaters coming to the door, but she learned very quickly what to do when it was her turn to get candy!  We first hit up the neighbors and then went out with Kate and Leah by their house.

She would run up to each house, knock on the door and say trick or treat then snag her candy and say thank you and hit the road for the next house.  After a few houses gave her a few extra (saying because she was just so cute), she was getting greedy and trying to snag more candy!

The Big Day! Ashley the Flower Girl

After 2 days of no naps, late bed times and evenings full of excitement (and playing with her Irish pal, Daniel) Tricia's wedding day arrived!

Thankfully, she did nap and it seemed to have paid off.  She was having lots of fun running around with the other flower girl, Fiona, who explained that she was the flower girl and Ashley was her assistant.  It was quite cute to watch the two of them run around in their matching dresses.

When time came to line up, I got nervous since I had no idea what she was going to do.  At rehearsal, she wanted to hold my hand and then ran down the aisle to me.  It was much better than expected.  Pete stayed in the "line up" with her and I sat in the front row.  She walked down going from aisle to aisle saying "mommy? mommy?"  Then she spotted me in the front and ran to me while all the guests laughed and awed at how cute she was.  Once she got to me, she gave me a hug and shouted, "DADDY!" and then ran all the way back to Pete.  It was very cute.

She was then whisked away as she was talking and we didn't want to disrupt the ceremony. Pete said she was running around in circles in the other room the entire time.  During pictures, we kept her entertained playing the piano and blowing on a kazoo (as the end of the ceremony had a surprise when the guests started singing "All you need is love" like the movie, "Love actually".)

The reception was fun, we spent much of dinner dancing with Ashley on the dance floor (they kept our dinners warm for us).  Her dancing involved pointing her fingers and throwing her arms to the air.  She had quite the time.

Ashley was picked up and spent the night with grandma and grandpa as well as most of the next day.  She had a lot to talk about including the wedding, her buddy Daniel from Ireland, and the day with grandma and grandpa.

We have a quiet weekend next weekend and the following weekend she will have visitors from Grammy, Poppy and Great-Grandmommy!  A few weeks later Auntie Laura will be visiting too!
